Environment Conference 2018 – SENEGAL

The Global Pact for Environment Conference, Dakar, Senegal, May 4, 2018

Environmental law issues are key aspects in regulatory compliance. We have so far assisted several clients in all their environmental law issues in Cameroon. Our assistance includes environmental impact assessment review for industrial projects, classified establishments issues, negotiation and litigation relating to liability and fines.

We are also proud to be among the experts promoting the Global Pact for Environment. After the Paris Agreement addressing climate change (COP 21) since 2016, the project of the Global Pact for Environment was submitted for approval before the United Nations at the General Assembly on 19 September 2017.

International environmental law exits in several conventions and international declarations. The Global Pact for Environment offers the international community an opportunity to adopt a single and comprehensive law. It will be the first international legally binding document, gathering and harmonizing all environmental laws in a single document. It will be a major tool for governments in the implementation of environmental law rules and principles at the national level.

On May 4, 2018, D. MOUKOURI & Partners was at Dakar in Senegal, among the experts gathered for an international conference to promote the Global Pact for Environment project. The conference was opened by the President of the Republic of Senegal and presided over by Mr. Laurent FABIUS, the President of the Constitutional Council of the French Republic and Former President of the COP 21.

On May 10, 2018, the United Nations General Assembly adopted the resolution in favour of a Global Pact for Environment.
